GI Takeover Month: Round-up

This November we hosted our GI Takeover Month, where each week we partnered with some of the providers on our flexible new panel to bring our advisers everything they need to know to boost their business with general insurance. Our Head of Sales and Marketing, Sharon Mawby, gives us a round-up of what happened as part of our GI Takeover Month.

Looking back on November and our GI Takeover Month as a whole it was a really great campaign. Each week we covered a different general insurance talking point, partnered with a different general insurance provider on our new flexible panel, and collated a range of useful material ranging from sales aids to videos for our advisers.

Our aim was to help members of our Mortgage Network and Mortgage Club future proof their business in the face of uncertainty and to help them provide a complete holistic service for their clients.

Week 1: Starting the GI Conversation

We know as a network that advisers often find it difficult to start the GI conversation with their clients for one reason or another. That’s why for the first week of our GI Takeover Month partnered with Paymentshield to highlight that selling GI should be part of the mortgage advice process and gave some of their top tips to get that all-important conversation started.

Week 2: Cost vs Quality

Customers could be forgiven for heading straight to a comparison website, entering their details and taking out the cheapest option for cover when it comes to general insurance. So, for week two of our takeover month, we teamed up with the Source to help our members handle their clients’ objections and highlight the potential gulf in cost and quality that comes with using a comparison website.

Week 3: Technology

For the third week of our GI Takeover Month we filmed a Q&A session with Legal & General and Uinsure in our Bournemouth head office which was a great success. Both providers talked about how technology in the GI market has advanced and how important it is in making sure customers have the correct cover.

Week 4: Specialist GI and Referrals

The fourth and final week of our GI Takeover Month saw us put a focus on specialist GI and referrals. We partnered with Safe&Secure to explain how referrals work and why they might be the right option for some of our advisers, and Berkeley Alexander to highlight the benefits of using a specialist GI provider.

Overall it was a fantastic month which I hope our advisers found useful, insightful and interesting. General Insurance is a great way to ensure you are providing a comprehensive service and it also provides an opportunity to future-proof your business amidst some market uncertainty.
