Get the most out of your social media marketing
It’s common knowledge now that in an ever more digital world social media is becoming integral as a marketing tool. With more than 58% of the World’s population active on various social media platforms, it would be somewhat naïve to suggest otherwise. Tackling the world of social media marketing can be daunting at first and some top tips go a long way to helping you get the most out of your socials. Our Senior Marketing Executive, Nick Terry, gives you five top tips to help achieve your marketing goals.
Build up, don’t build down
There’s nothing worse than seeing a business post monthly blogs for 3 months but then fail to post another one for a year. Having realistic expectations for your marketing efforts is key for consistency. Given social media marketing can be slightly overwhelming when you’re new to it, setting out manageable goals that take into account your experience will help to improve your understanding of social media marketing.
Know your audience
Your audience are your customers. Past, present, and hopefully future customers will consume your content, so it is essential to understand the behavioural traits of your average consumer. Recognising which platforms your audience most commonly engage with is a great way of discovering the most effective places to push your marketing efforts – but also take note of any common queries that may appear from your current and potential customers. This is a sure-fire way to get them onside. A good start to understanding your customer is to create a customer avatar – here’s a great online free resource to get you started: Customer Avatar Worksheet | Download the Free Template (digitalmarketer.com)
Keep your friends close and your competitors closer
Regular competitor analysis is essential. Understanding your competitors’ strengths and weaknesses and being able to compare them to your own allows for the opportunity to see gaps in your marketing efforts. Being aware of your strategies’ downfalls is an integral part of improving them! By taking note of your competitors’ strengths, you can potentially utilise some of their techniques. In the words of Oscar Wilde – “Talent borrows, genius steals!”.
Don’t be afraid to get personal
One thing to always remember is that your customers are people too! It sounds obvious but being personal is a great way to get consumers to trust your business. A common misconception about marketing these days is that you need to sell your products or services all the time but in reality, customers tend to buy from brands they trust and can see have credibility.
Video marketing has never been so easy!
Video marketing isn’t going anywhere! It’s only grown exponentially over the last few years – with 60% of businesses now using video as a marketing tool. It’s never been easier to create video content given that everyone generally has access to Teams or Zoom. You can start a meeting with yourself and record it to then be uploaded to social media. It’s surprisingly easy! A common barrier to advisers getting started with video marketing I hear is they don’t know what to talk about. A great place to start is by answering common questions your customer has.
